Discover our founding journey, our unwavering service to humanity, and our roadmap for ecological and social transformation.
In late 2023, a group of environmental botanists, community doctors, and passionate youth organizers across Kolkata witnessed firsthand the compounding crisis in West Bengal’s urban fringes and rural riverine deltas: severe loss of green tree cover, soaring summer heatwaves, and vulnerable communities struggling without baseline health diagnostics and educational resources.
Rather than waiting for distant global conventions, GREENWAY FOUNDATION was incorporated as an autonomous public charitable trust in January 2024 to place real tools, native saplings, and compassionate volunteers directly into the hands of grassroots citizens.
"We don't merely plant trees in soil; we root dignity in human hearts, ignite curiosity in rural classrooms, and restore natural balance so that every living being can thrive together."
From our humble inaugural drive in Bengal to a growing nationwide community network.
Greenway Foundation was established by a passionate collective of environmental activists, educators, and social workers in Kolkata to address climate degradation and grassroots inequities.
Organized our inaugural large-scale drive across North 24 Parganas, planting 500 native fruit and shade trees with active participation from 60 youth volunteers.
Dispatched our first mobile health screening team to rural Sundarbans border hamlets, providing vital pediatric diagnostics and clean hydration essentials to 150+ villagers.
Expanded into rural education, establishing eco-clubs and distributing solar study lamps and STEM kits across 10 government schools in Hooghly and Howrah.
Reached a landmark milestone of 400+ lives directly impacted across environmental, educational, and medical initiatives, backed by an active roster of 175 volunteers.
Scaling native urban micro-forests across eastern Indian metropolitan zones and building an open-source sapling geotagging registry for nationwide climate action.
Our core team members and 175+ volunteers abide by a unified ethical code designed to safeguard ecological trust.
We empower communities to become lifelong guardians of their own natural and social environments.
Every botanical intervention uses indigenous Indian trees suited for regional biodiversity and soil health.
Decentralized chapters uniting citizens across state borders for shared humanitarian and ecological action.
